Deportivo vs Barcelona in less than 3 minutes

Barcelona were bought back down to Earth with an almighty bump at the weekend as Deportivo La Coruna continued their recent impressive run of form with a shock victory at The Riazor on Sunday.

Pepe Mel’s unbeaten start to his stint as Deportivo boss continues as he has now earned 7 points from a possible 9 as his new charges find themselves a very comfortable 8 points clear from Granada in 18th.

It was almost a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show for Barcelona, after such a herculean effort on Wednesday to reach the Champions League Quarter Finals there was very little left in the tank for this much changed Barcelona side.

5 changes were made with one of them being enforced due to Neymar picking up an injury in that victory over PSG. But even with the embarrassment of riches that the Catalan giants had at their disposal they would have still gone into the game as favourites.

But Deportivo would be the team to go ahead just before the break when Joselu scored 5 minutes before half time. It would not be long until parity was restored though as Luis Suarez would bring Barcelona level a minute after the restart.

Unlike Wednesday though Barcelona would not go on to get the desired result as Alex Bergantinos header 16 minutes from time would send shockwaves through La Liga and once again blow the title race wide open. How costly could this defeat prove to be come the end of the season?

In terms of the race for La Liga it was a real hammer blow for Luis Enrique’s side and the advantage once again sits with Real Madrid especially with that game in hand at their disposal. Will Barcelona have to settle for Champions League glory instead?

Here is all you need to know from Sunday
