Crystal Palace vs Southampton – Match Preview

Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak has an ankle injury and misses out, along with Dwight Gayle, who suffered a setback after returning on Monday.

Bakary Sako is out with a hamstring problem, but striker Marouane Chamakh could feature against Southampton.

Southampton’s Victor Wanyama has overcome an ankle complaint suffered against Aston Villa last weekend.

Jay Rodriguez, Florin Gardos and Fraser Forster remain long-term absentees for the Saints.

Editor’s Note: Crystal Palace currently sit 6th in the league and will feel that they could have come away with all 3 points from their trip to Goodison Park on Monday. After a late goal from Scott Dann they then proceeded to let Everton straight back into the game and have to make do with a share of the points

Their performances on the road have yielded more joy than at home but their last outing at Selhurst Park saw them tear Newcastle apart in a 5-1 win. Alan Pardew will be able to welcome back Wilifred Zaha as they play host to one of his former employers

Southampton aren’t having the best of runs as of late and they have only managed to pick up a solitary point in the last 3 league matches that came from a home draw against bottom side Aston Villa. They’ve also been thrashed by Liverpool 6-1 in the League Cup recently so Ronald Koeman is going to have to try to revitalise a Saints side who have slipped into the bottom half of the table

Before this slump they were 7 league games unbeaten so it’s fair to say they have fallen into a rut but how quickly can they get themselves out of it. Tomorrow I think Alan Pardew will get one over his old side and reckon it will be all 3 points for Palace at Selhurst Park
