Copa America – Chile vs Panama in less than 5 minutes

Chile booked their place in the Copa America Centenario Quarter Finals in what was a winner takes all game against Panama last night. With both teams on three points going into this tie it was all very much to play for and it was Chile who came out on top in what was a very topsy turvy encounter

Panama took an early lead through Miguel Carmago his strike after 5 minutes certainly made the game interesting but parity was soon restored when Eduardo Vargas leveled on the quarter hour mark

And it was Vargas again who was on hand to give Chile the lead just before half time. His 43rd minute effort putting them ahead as they went into the break. Panama would now have to take game to Chile but just 5 minutes after the restart Alexis Sanchez made it 3-1

Panama then reduced the deficit to just one goal when Abdiel Arroyo scored with 15 minutes to go to give the Panamanians hope but the hope would have evaporated when Arsenal’s Sanchez got his second in the final minute of the game to wrap up and the win and a place in the Quarter Finals

Panama will come away with this tournament with some credit especially with the group that they were in while holders Chile will now go onto face Mexico in the Quarter Finals

Here is all you need to know from last night
