The hotly anticipated encounter was even at half time but two quickfire goals after the break from Angel Di Maria and Ever Banega gave Argentina an unassailable advantage. José Pedro Fuenzalida pulled one back late on but by then it was too late and the repeat of the 2015 final ended up with the reverse outcome.
