Chelsea vs West Brom – Match Preview

Chelsea forward Diego Costa has overcome a bruised knee and will face West Brom.

Loic Remy is fit following a calf problem, but Eden Hazard and Radamel Falcao remain out with respective groin and thigh injuries.

West Brom pair Jonas Olsson and Victor Anichebe are likely to be ruled out for the third successive game because of hamstring injuries.

Ben Foster could make his first Premier League appearance since March.

The goalkeeper played in the FA Cup at the weekend after a 10-month absence with a serious knee injury.

Editor’s Note: The steady resurgence for Chelsea under Guus Hiddink continues as last week they comfortably moved into the 4th Round of The F.A. Cup while they now find themselves in the heady heights of 14th in the League table.

Chelsea are yet go lose under Hiddink and last time out in the league they run out easy 3-0 winners over London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The key to this is that he has managed to get Diego Costa acting more like the fearsome forward of last season and not the wind up merchant of this. His goals in the last two matches have been a reminder as to what he is capable of.

Another transformation or should that be revitalisation is that of Midfielder John Obi Mikel his performances under Hiddink have been some of his best and a resurgence for the almost forgotten man of Stamford Bridge.

Tonight Chelsea play host to West Brom in 12th position knowing that a win would enable them to leapfrog Tony Pulis’ side. The Baggies needed a 95th Minute equaliser against Bristol City to stay in the Cup on Saturday and Pulis will no doubt be hoping for a better performance on the road.

His West Brom side beat Stoke 2-1 last time out in the league but he knows his side will have their work cut out if they are going to get any joy from this encounter. Although he could be welcoming back Ben Foster after a lengthy lay off.

I think this should be a game that Chelsea could and most probably should win, West Brom are a well drilled unit but I can’t see The Blues momentum being halted tonight. Home win for me.
