Chelsea vs Norwich – Match Preview

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois returned to training this week after a knee injury but Asmir Begovic will continue to deputise.

Defender Branislav Ivanovic looks set to be involved, having recovered from a hamstring injury.

Norwich winger Nathan Redmond is expected to be fit to face the Blues after a thigh strain.

Captain Russell Martin returns from a one-match ban but Matt Jarvis will miss out because of a knee problem.

Editor’s Note: Now at the start of the season this would have been marked down as a home banker for the Champions but all of a sudden it’s become almost a 6 pointer as both clubs hover nervously over the relegation zone. Obviously it’s a bit too early to be talking about the drop but another defeat for Chelsea will add further fuel to the saga currently playing out at Stamford Bridge.

The International Break has slightly dampened the hysteria regarding Jose Mourinho and his battle to keep himself in a job, but surely Chelsea can’t slip up at home tomorrow to Norwich can they?. The Canaries who nearly came away with a point at The Etihad 3 weeks ago will probably set themselves up with 5 at the back again to counteract Chelsea’s attacking talents but this is a Chelsea side who looked pretty abject in their performance against Stoke before the break.

A lot will rest on Diego Costa’s shoulders and whether he fancies actually being a Footballer tomorrow afternoon or whether he’ll stick to being a wind up merchant. The only Chelsea player who has come out with any credit so far is Willian whose set piece taking has been pretty masterful as he seems doing his bit to try and make Chelsea a functioning team but one man a team does not make so it will be up to the other 10 Chelsea players on the pitch to raise their game, that said I think Chelsea should win tomorrow but IF they lose again will we finally see the end of days for Jose Mourinho.
