Many neutrals favourites Monaco have booked their place in the Semi Finals with a 6-3 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Quarter Finals. This young side continues to impress and the further this team goes the more attraction their young stars will be getting over the Summer.
Once again the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar excelled on the biggest stage but that is not forgetting the resurgent Radamel Falcao who looks back to his blistering best. Whether Falcao leaves Monte Carlo again this Summer seems perhaps unlikely but you do get the feeling that this Monaco outfit will have a very different look to them next season.
Borussia Dortmund will ask themselves what might have been, after the dramatic delay to the 1st leg, it’s fair to say that German side were perhaps not in the best frame of mind, that means there is no representation from Germany in the Semi Finals.
Juventus showed PSG how a defensive job at The Nou Camp should be done as they made sure that Barcelona did not just overturn the 3-0 deficit from the first leg but they also kept a clean sheet. It was a masterclass in Italian defending as Massimo Allegri’s side frustrated the Catalan giants. It was a case of watch and learn as the Turin side withstood everything that was thrown their way.
For Luis Enrique it means this week is going to define not only this season but possibly how he is remembered in his time as Barcelona manager. Dumped out of the Champions League at the Quarter Final stage, he now has to take his side to The Bernabeu and make sure his men come away with a crucial win in El Clasico. Failure to do so will surely mean that Real Madrid win a first La Liga title since 2012.
