Burnley vs Crystal Palace – Premier League Match Preview

The first of the two Premier League matches today takes us to Turf Moor as Burnley play host to Crystal Palace and although we are only in week four of the season we are in a scenario where it is very much a must win game for Frank De Boer.

His Crystal Palace side are yet to score this season and as a consequence are yet to get off the mark in terms of points either, rumours are already abound that should the former Dutch international suffer a fourth defeat while in charge then his tenure in South London could be a very short one indeed.

Chairman Steve Parish claimed in the summer that he did not want the next manager to use the club as a stepping stone but instead of the next incumbent moving on to pastures new they could be handed their P45 instead and in turn creating early season turmoil at Selhurst Park.

Today they go up against a Burnley side that has done well against London opposition this season with a win away at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend of the season and then in their last action before in the international break they managed to snatch a point against Tottenham at Wembley.

That point against Mauricio Pochettino’s men came courtesy of a Chris Wood sucker punch as Burnley caught Tottenham on the counter attack as the home side went for a second of the game and looked to wrap up all three points.

Burnley have picked up four points on the road but are yet to pick up any points at home, last season Turf Moor was a fortress and something that made a huge difference in regards to staying up in the top flight especially as they picked up just one away win all season.

They’ve only played once at home and that was a 1-0 defeat to West Brom courtesy of a Hal Robson-Kanu goal, although it would be a bittersweet afternoon for the Welsh international as he would soon be sent off afterwards for an errant elbow.

For Crystal Palace it seems as if Frank De Boer is trying to implement ideas that are too radical for the squad of players that he inherited from Sam Allardyce. Today he has to decide whether or not to stick to the ideals or revert to type in a bid to get off the mark.

If he does have a change of tact, then it would show that he will have to sacrifice those ideals in a bid to not only get points on the board but to also make sure that he is still in gainful by the end of the week. Palace are almost in a scenario where they would have to call on Sam Allardyce to rescue them again.

As for what will happen Today at Turf Moor, Palace need to find something especially a goal at the very least but at the same time Burnley will be boosted by a second impressive result of the season, I think Sean Dyche’s men will come out on top and it will be a home win.

Here is what social media thinks will happen – you can still vote on the outcome
