Bradley Lowery Has Passed Away

The football world has been touched by the plight of 6 year old Bradley Lowery as he heroically fought against illness but unfortunately today brings the sad news that the youngster has passed away

The friendship he has struck up with former Sunderland forward Jermain Defoe was arguably the most notable image of the Bradley’s time in the limelight, wherever the England international was then Bradley was usually not that far away.

It was a bond that was simply unbreakable and you only had to see Defoe struggle to answer a question on Thursday in regards to Bradley’s condition to see just how much he meant to the 35 year old who is now plying his trade with Bournemouth.

His parents confirmed on social media the news that absolutely no-one wanted to hear

The posting read: “My brave boy has went with the angels today.

“He was our little superhero and put the biggest fight up but he was needed else where. There are no words to describe how heart broken we are.”

The youngster captured the hearts and imagination of football fans across the country with countless banners showing their endless support and this was no sooner apparent when Bradley received over 25,000 Christmas cards

But in that same month his parents Gemma and Carl were dealt the devastating news that he only had months to live and although £700k was raised for treatment in New York it was not enough to get the better of the neuroblastoma – (a rare type of cancer) – which was diagnosed when he was just 18 months old.

I cannot even begin to imagine the pain that the brave lad had gone through other the years but the beautiful game showed just how great it can be when it rallied together and treated him like an absolute star on so many occasions

Real Football Man and I’m absolutely sure everyone connected with the sport will pass on the dearest condolences

R.I.P. Bradley
