Bournemouth vs Liverpool – Match Preview

If you are Liverpool fan by the time of reading this on Sunday you no doubt still on cloud nine after that incredible Europa League win on Thursday night. The game and not only that the season looked dead and buried after an hour when 3-1 down but the spirit of Istanbul was evoked as they came back to win in the most dramatic of fashions thanks to Dejan Lovren’s injury time header.

That win means that Liverpool are now 3 games away from winning the Europa League and more importantly that means a backdoor entry to the Champions League for Jurgen Klopp’s side therefore you get the feeling that these last handful of league matches are going to be somewhat of an afterthought.

That’s not to suggest that Klopp is going to chuck these last few matches but you would almost argue the case that it’s better to finish say 8th and have a full crack at winning the Europa League and the prize that comes with and even if they don’t win the Europa League this season they won’t be hamstrung by the same competition next season when aiming for a Top 4 slot. So it’s an interesting conundrum for Klopp over these next few weeks.

They travel to the South Coast this Lunchtime to face a Bournemouth side who are now riding high in 11th and they have reached the all important 40 point marker. After defeats to Tottenham and Manchester City they were thoughts they were already on the beach but with last weeks win over Aston Villa they proved that not to be the case.

But for Eddie Howe it’s job very much done and they would like to add the scalp of Liverpool to their list of triumphs this season. I have a feeling Liverpool could be facing somewhat of a Europa League hangover and to be honest who can blame them. I have a feeling this will be a draw.
