Bournemouth vs Burnley – Premier League Match Preview

Seven points from a possible nine have seen Bournemouth put some much welcome daylight between themselves and the bottom three as their season is finally starting to find its stride after a relatively slow start to the campaign. Tonight they welcome the visit of Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

For Eddie Howe’s men their three game unbeaten run has seen them also keep three clean sheets in the process, they will however feel that they should have taken full advantage of a misfiring Swansea at the weekend as they had to make do with just a point at the Liberty Stadium.

But the fact that the Cherries’ defence is a lot more watertight will no doubt be pleasing to Bournemouth boss Howe as you have to go back to Eden Hazard as the last player to manage to score past Asmir Begovic, they are yet to concede in the month of November and another clean sheet tonight would see them shut the whole month out.

Tonight offers up a battle of the English managers, Eddie Howe has often been linked with the England job in the past with people looking beyond Gareth Southgate but after Burnley’s impressive start to the season their is a much larger vocal element backing Sean Dyche for the job.

Burnley fans may have been worried five or so weeks ago when Everton sacked their manager as the news was then that the Goodison hierarchy had the eyes on Sean Dyche as a replacement for Ronald Koeman but while the Toffees are stuck on just who to announce as a new boss it looks as if any interest from Merseyside has cooled off.

Should Burnley manage to continue their impressive start to the season then you can only see Dyche’s stock rising, you get the feeling that he will certainly be here until the end of the campaign but then you do have to wonder just what opportunities may be afforded to him.

Then again you could say exactly the same about Eddie Howe and in fairness it does highlight the wider question of whether these two young well at least in management terms club stewards will be given the opportunity to break through the glass ceiling.

Ultimately it will be a combination of two factors, one can their respective clubs match their ambitions going forward and what vacancies come around that are worth then facilitating their departure. The first point you could argue perhaps not long term but the second really is crystal ball time.

As for The Clarets though they come into this game having seen their run of wins come to an end at the hands of Arsenal on Sunday. They were moments away from making it four games unbeaten but the award of a penalty in injury time meant that Arsenal were given a golden get out of jail free card.

One that Alexis Sanchez did not hesitate in using as he dispatched the spot kick to break Burnley hearts and ensure not just all three points but also that the Gunners would leave the pitch to a torrent of boos as the home fans felt that they had been hard down by.

After the game Sean Dyche felt the same as once again Arsenal won by a 1-0 scoreline by slightly contentious means, the season before it was Laurent Koscielny who bundled the ball in with what looked more like a hand than anything else.

But tonight they will have to lick their wounds and bounce back in the best possible fashion with a win, will they be a wounded animal and can they be the first team to get the better of Asmir Begovic this month. To be honest both teams are in good form and I can see them cancelling each other out with a draw.
