BBC Gossip Column Debunked – Issue 49

After a sizeable portion of transfer gossip this morning, it is time for a small morsel to keep you ticking over this afternoon. Don’t read it all at once

Gossip in standard font, my thoughts are in bold

Chelsea are struggling to convince Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches, 19, to join them on loan and are continuing to look at other targets.(Evening Standard) Renato Sanches has got himself into something of a situation where he is being linked with a number of clubs but none of them are going to necessarily offer him anymore first team football than he would get at Bayern this season. It almost makes you wonder if moving to the German giants was the right decision in the first place

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will not sign another midfielder this summer despite missing out on RB Leipzig’s 22-year-old Naby Keita, says former defender Jamie Carragher. (Independent) This no ‘plan b’ strategy is either going to look inspired or it is going to see Liverpool crash and burn. Only time will tell I guess

Reds forward Sadio Mane has emerged as a new target for Italian giants Inter Milan with the club expecting to bid £35m for the 25-year-old.(Daily Express) If they are not willing to sell Philippe Coutinho, then I can see absolutely no logic in selling Sadio Mane. This one is a non starter for me

Bournemouth have shown interest in signing Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, 21, who is looking to leave the former champions. (Leicester Mercury) Touched on this one quite heavily yesterday, now if the player was to move this is the kind of club he should be looking at as they would offer a lot more first team football at this current juncture

Former Manchester City midfielder Jesus Navas has rejoined Sevilla on a four year deal, while The Etihad exodus looks set to continue with Fernando looking likely to join Turkish outfit Galatasaray and Kelenchi Iheanacho edging towards a move to Leicester (BBC) Navas had already left the club in the Summer but with two more squad players set to make way does that mean that Pep Guardiola has his eye on a few more signings before the season starts?
