BBC Gossip Column Debunked – Issue 1

In a new summer series I am going to run through the BBC Gossip Column each day and give me two pence on all the transfer rumours. Firstly because it is a good idea by myself and secondly there is very little to write about. Later in the week I may also try some audio versions so keep an ear out for those. Please leave feedback/thoughts below

Gossip in standard font, my thoughts are in bold

Bookies have cut the odds on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, 23, signing for Manchester United from 20-1 to 6-1. (Daily Star)You would be better off keeping the £1 in your pocket

However, Spurs have laughed off United’s interest in the England international, with chairman Daniel Levy valuing Kane at close to £200m. (Independent)That is classic Daniel Levy that is

Juventus and Brazil defender Alex Sandro, 26, has agreed to join Chelsea, with the Premier League champions closing in on a £61m deal. (Corriere della Sera via Metro)  This does have an element of likelihood as LWB is one of the areas that Antonio Conte would like to improve on next season

Sandro could be joined at Stamford Bridge by Southampton and Netherlands centre-back Virgil van Dijk, 25, Everton’s Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku, 24, and 22-year-old Monaco and France midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko – with Chelsea prepared to spend £240m this summer. (Daily Express) The latter two definitely as for Van Dijk it remains to be seen if Liverpool will revive their interest. If not Chelsea could have a clear run at his signature

Arsenal and Manchester City are considering a straight swap deal involving 28-year-old Chile forward Alexis Sanchez and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero, 29. (Daily Star)Nope

However, Sanchez has been urged by his international team-mate Arturo Vidal to ditch the Gunners for “best club in the world” Bayern Munich – Don’t buy the S*n

Arsenal and France forward Olivier Giroud, 30, has been in contact with the president of Lyon over a potential move to the Ligue 1 club this summer. (Independent)If Alexander Lacazette does complete a move to Arsenal then this is a likely move

Manchester United are on the verge of signing Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and could bring in the 28-year-old Serbia international by the end of the week. (ESPN)If and when Chelsea complete the signing for Bakayoko then Matic will be surplus to requirements and a move to Old Trafford seems likely

United are also close to signing 29-year-old Belgium midfielder Radja Nainggolan from Roma. (Il Tempo – in Italian)Only if United continue their bid to sign everyone this summer does this go ahead, file in the category unlikely

Everton have had a £30m bid rejected for Swansea’s 27-year-old Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. (Daily Mirror)Sounds like they need to whack another £10m on that figure, crazy money if you ask me

Chelsea could make a shock £35m bid for Roma defender Kostas Manola. The 26-year-old Greece international was reportedly on the brink of a move to Zenit St Petersburg. (Daily Express)A cheaper option than Virgil Van Dijk, Conte has been a long term admirer but not sure if this comes to fruition

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has reassured Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, 31, that he will have a “positive experience” if he moves to the Chinese Super League. (Daily Mail)Well he has to go somewhere, but will the 100% tax on foreign transfers put an end to that?

Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches, 19, has distanced himself from a move to Manchester United and says he expects to stay at German champions Bayern Munich. (Record – in Portuguese) That article of him being offered on the cheap to Manchester United was a load of bollocks then, we are deep in silly season aren’t we

Liverpool are tracking Germany’s Max Meyer, 21, at the Under-21 Euro 2017 tournament in Poland but face competition from Tottenham for the Schalke midfielder. (Daily Star) MAX POWER

Crystal Palace will make a move for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho. West Ham and Leicester are also interested in the 20-year-old Nigerian. (Daily Mirror)This will hinge on the buy back clause that Manchester City want to insert, that said it could be a good move for all parties
