Barcelona kick started their defence of their La Liga crown in truly dominant fashion as they blew past Real Betis at the Nou Camp on their way to a stunning 6-2 victory.
Arda Turan put the home side ahead after just 6 minutes and although Betis did manage to draw level a quarter of an hour later if anything it just sparked the Catalan giants into life.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez would have Barcelona 3-1 by the break and Messi would see his second half strike sandwiched by another two from Suarez which completed a hat-trick for the Uruguayan. But that wouldn’t be the end of his scoring tally as Suarez then added a fourth to put Barcelona 6-1 and complete the rout.
That wouldn’t quite be the end of the scoring though as Castro picked up his second of the evening late on for Betis to add a modicum of respectability to the scoreline but in truth it was nothing short of a rout.
A fantastic start for Barcelona and once again the rest of La Liga are on notice.
