Gomis says Au Revoir to Swansea, while Robson-Kanu could be saying Hallo

Swansea could be see a third striker leave the club this Summer as France Bafetimbi Gomis could be set for a return to France. The 30 year old is in talks with Marseille as he looks to return to Ligue 1, the fact that Gomis hasn’t joined the rest of the squad in their pre-season tour of the USA will surely indicate that a move can’t be all that far away

If Gomis is to leave The Liberty Stadium then he will be the third striker that manager Francesco Guidolin has shown the exit door to in the close season with Eder leaving for Lille and Alberto Paloschi ending his short stint in South Wales with a move to Atalanta.

Gomis started last season brightly but his drop in form mirrored Swansea’s dramatic fall down the table. A slump that in the end cost Garry Monk his job. Gomis scored 7 goals in 35 Premier League appearances but towards the end of the season he was reduced to playing a role from the subs bench as his early season form had deserted him.

If Swansea say goodbye to a third striker then they will be a bit light upfront and Swans fans will be hoping that Guidolin has some targets lined up especially if they don’t want a repeat of last season when they had to claw themselves away from the drop zone.

As it stands they would only have three recognised forwards and one of them is Marvin Emnes who made just two league appearances last season, surely then reinforcements are going to have to be required before the start of the season

And one of those could very well be Welsh hero Hal Robson-Kanu. The former Reading forward went into the tournament unattached to a club hoping that a decent tournament could help sign for a new club after Wales’ participation in the competition had come to an end.

Talk about putting yourself in the shop window. After scoring the winner against Slovakia he then sent three Belgian defenders AWOL as his Cruyff turn and shot gave Wales the lead in their Quarter Final encounter

Reading fans will probably be asking where has that player been hiding all this time, while the Reading backroom hierarchy will be no doubt ruing that decision not to offer him a new contract. But the question is was that just Robson-Kanu playing incredibly well over a short of space and could he replicate that form over the course of a Premier League season.

That said though his performances for Wales at Euro 2016 have certainly earned him a move to the top flight and if Swansea don’t sign him then there will be a queue clubs in the race for his signature. It’s been quite the whirlwind few weeks for the 27 year old and even his own wildest dreams I don’t think he would have quite envisaged his career panning out the way that it has.
