Arsenal vs West Brom – Match Preview

Arsenal’s form as of late has not only seen their hopes of a Premier League title ended it has now that put their chances of entering next season’s Champions League in jeopardy also. Before the game they find themselves in 4th although a win Tonight would see them move back above Manchester City and back into 3rd.

The last two games have been London Derbies and both games have been Draws, firstly an incredible 6 goal thriller at Upton Park where they conspired to give away a 2-0 lead only to salvage a point and then they thew away 2 points last Sunday to Crystal Palace thanks to Yannick Bolasie much to the ire of The Emirates faithful.

The Wenger Out fanbase has certainly been getting louder over the past few weeks and failure to finish in the Top 4 or the nightmare scenario of finishing 4th and still not getting Champions League Football due to a combination of Manchester City’s and Liverpool’s European success could be finally be the tipping point which sees Arsene Wenger’s long tenure at Arsenal finally come to an end.

The pressure is certainly on them to get a win this Evening and they know that a failure to take up the opportunity of getting back into third by 10:00pm will mean even more questions will be asked about Players and Manager alike.

Their opponents West Brom are coasting towards the end of the season and with nothing to play for you wonder how much they are really going to be up for this one. The only thing of interest for The Baggies is whether Tony Pulis can earn himself a new contract for next season and beyond. A few more wins between now and the end of the season would help his cause no doubt.

Last time out they lost at home to Watford, a side that have been in a slump of their own and if Watford were going to pick up a win it would have likely been at a side whose season finished for all intents and purposes about 3 weeks ago.

For that reason Arsenal should really be putting West Brom to the sword that and they more than enough quality to do so anyway irrespective of West Brom’s league position. A home win for Arsenal one that papers over the widening cracks for a few days at least.
