Are Sky Sports doing Leicester a massive favour in terms of the Title Race

With only six games to go in the Premier League season it’s going to take one hell of a collapse for Leicester not to win the title now but have they been given a massive boost by the fixture computer? Well actually let me rephrase that, have they been given a massive boost by Sky Sports.

With the news that the Tottenham vs Southampton game has been moved to May 8th this now means that Tottenham will play each one of their games after Leicester play their fixtures. Will this add an extra psychological advantage to Leicester’s title run in.

With Leicester playing before Spurs each week it gives them the opportunity to lay down a marker each week and put even more pressure on Spurs. This weekend being a perfect example, if they win their game away at Sunderland then they could be 10 points clear with Tottenham still to kick off against Manchester United moments later.

Getting points on the board is what you want at this stage of the season and if you can get those points before your rival even plays then that must give you a leap up in terms of the title race. Yes you could argue on the flip side that if Leicester were to lose then Spurs would then now that a win would shorten the gap to “x” points but it must be a bit unfair that Spurs now have to play 6 games in a row after Leicester play there’s

I guess this is the part where we all look for conspiracy theories and get accused of sour grapes. In fairness there is no conspiracy (is there?) and Leicester are top for one reason and that is simply that they’ve been by far the best team this season so if and when they win the title it will be nothing short of deserved  but there’s just something a little iffy about the way these last 6 games have been scheduled

This weekend is going to be absolutely pivotal if the gap is extended to 10 points and then Tottenham fail to bring it back down then that will be the title race all but over if it isn’t already. It will obviously be a fantastic fairytale when Leicester complete the job and you get the feeling Sky Sports are desperate for them to win the title, they are certainly helping them in terms of fixture scheduling.

Let’s put the theory to the test at the weekend…
