Peterborough vs West Brom – Match Preview

Peterborough duo Michael Smith and Ricardo Santos are banned, while Jack Baldwin is doubtful with a back injury.

Gabriel Zakuani is available after a long-term hamstring problem but lacks fitness, while Tom Nichols and Adil Nabi are both ineligible.

West Brom will assess Gareth McAuley, Craig Dawson and Jonas Olsson, who all suffered injuries against Newcastle, while Jonny Evans is a major doubt.

Chris Brunt, Callum McManaman and James Morrison remain out.

Editor’s Note: This has all the makings of a potential Cup upset tonight at the ABAX Stadium as West Brom travel to League One Peterborough.

These two sides drew 2-2 at the first time of asking and it was a late Peterborough equaliser that secured a replay for the Posh after Saido Berahino thought he had booked a place in the 5th Round for The Baggies with his Second of the Afternoon.

West Brom have been on a barren run of form as of late as they have failed to win any of their last 5 league matches and have particularly blunt in attack as of late. Tony Pulis is setting out just not to lose games at the moment and a) that isn’t necessarily working and b) the Football on offer has been awful

It’s not quite job done for West Brom in terms of survival but a few more wins will get them over the line but the ideas on the pitch have been very unimaginative as of late. In the 3rd Round it took a replay against lower league opposition in the form of Bristol City and Tonight they will have to overcome the hurdle of Peterborough.

The question will be whether Tony Pulis really goes for it in terms of a full strength line up or whether this will just be an inconvenience in terms of the main focus of staying up this season, if it is a weakened side then Peterborough will be ready to take full advantage.

Peterborough find themselves just out of the play-offs in League One and have only just managed to awaken from their own slump as a first League win in four matches happened on Saturday against Chesterfield. Graham Westley will no doubt have his side pumped up for this and there’s no reason why they can’t progress to the 5th Round

I’m going to stick my neck on the line as I reckon there will be an upset of some magnitude as Peterborough will look to take the game to a low on confidence West Brom. A Home win for me and Posh moving into the 5th Round for me.
