4 players who could find their futures away from Anfield this Summer

After covering both North London and Manchester it’s now time to make the short trip to Merseyside and see what might take place at Anfield this season. Jurgen Klopp has just signed a 6 year contract extension which could see him be in charge of the Merseryside club until 2022, last season he worked with an inherited squad but this Summer is going to be all important as he looks to build a team he can call his own. It’s fair to say that Liverpool do have a bloated squad and there is certainly some excess fat to be trimmed so let’s have a look at who could be for the Anfield exit door over the next few weeks.

Joe Allen

After a very impressive Euro 2016 campaign with Wales this name being top of the list may come as somewhat of a surprise but the Welsh Pirlo has never quite matched that level of performance while in wearing the Red of Liverpool.

With only 12 months left on his current Liverpool deal it doesn’t look like Jurgen Klopp is in a rush to be offering him a new one, instead he would rather cash in on the former Swansea midfielder and the fact he has such a good European Championships may just increase his value.

A move back to Swansea could very well be on the cards and they would be able to pick him up for a much cheaper fee than the one they collected when Allen moved to Anfield back in 2012. Liverpool parted with £15m back then and would be looking to recoup at least half this time around.

If Allen doesn’t fancy a return to Wales then Southampton are also looking to table a bid and they have the added carrot of Europa League football to offer next season but Spanish side Sevilla can go one better and offer a place in the Champions League. Will Allen be one of a rare breed of British footballers and decide to try his luck abroad?

Alberto Moreno

Another man bought in by Brendan Rodgers and another player that may fall victim to the Klopp exodus this Summer. A left back who seems more comfortable going forward then he does actually doing the job in which he is employed to do so and that is primarily defend.

His performance in the Europa League Final against former club Sevilla had many fans wanting to buy him a one ticket back to Spain such was his level of performance that night. Not forgetting Jamie Carragher’s expletive tweet ordering the club to buy a new Left Back in not so polite words.

It’s hard to see how he comes back from that performance, he certainly won’t be a guaranteed first team starter especially when promising youngster Joe Gomez returns from the cruciate ligament injury he sustained back in October. Could we see Allen and Moreno both in Sevilla shirts next season?

Mario Balotelli

How do you solve a problem like Mario? – Is it one that Jurgen Klopp even wants to solve. He returns from his A.C. Milan loan spell having just registered a solitary goal in 20 Serie A appearances. That means that the former Manchester City man has now scored a total of just two goals in the last two campaigns.

After such poor goal figures the Milanese side aren’t going to be in a rush to sign him on a permanent deal while he’ll be very much down the forward pecking order at Anfield if he was to stay especially now that Sadio Mane has joined the club and Danny Ings is as good as a new player after returning from injury

The question is where does Balotelli go next? The tour of Italy looks like it’s running out of stops perhaps the bright lights and more importantly the big money of the Chinese Super League will be the next stop for Balotelli. Best of luck China is all I can say

Adam Bogdan

If there was a DVD released at Christmas of Goalkeeping howlers then Hungary’s Adam Bogdan would not only have his own chapter he would probably be the presenter. Flapping aimlessly at Vicarage Road last season all but killed his career as a Premier League level keeper

Trusted with playing against Exeter in the F.A. Cup he then somehow conceded a goal direct a corner. In that very moment his Liverpool career was finished. The fact that Simon Mignolet was out injured towards the end of the season and he couldn’t get near the team says it all.

The kind of keeper who sometimes pulls off the stupendous but more often than not does the ridiculous, he’ll be a name that gets mentioned in future lists of “Worst Liverpool players” ever and I don’t think any tears will be shed when he departs this Summer.
