3 Players That Could Be Leaving Arsenal This Month

When you think of Arsenal and potential transfer exits then most people with the exception of Arsene Wenger would still put Alexis Sanchez at the top of the list. With the Chilean international still yet to put pen to paper in regards to a new contract the question is now whether or not he is eventually walks out of the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

With just two and half weeks of the transfer window left these are going to be interesting times for all connected with the club as we patiently or perhaps impatiently wait to see whether or not a team does table an official bid for the 29 year old.

But Sanchez notwithstanding Arsene Wenger has recently said that there are too many players in his squad this season and there will likely be some departures from The Emirates before the end of the month. So with that in mind, lets now take a look at 3 players who could be shown the North London exit door.

Lucas Perez

This first selection is more likely a case of when and not if he leaves Arsenal as Lucas Perez’s already marginal role in the first team squad would have been diminished even further after the arrival of Alexander Lacazette this summer. Add to the fact that the former Lyon man has been given the coveted number 9 shirt that Perez was given last season and all things point towards an Arsenal exit.

Signed from Deportivo La Coruna just over a year ago, the Spaniard came with some hope and promise in equal measures unfortunately though after a good showing in La Liga during the 2015/16 campaign he has failed to match any of the expectations that have been set for him.

The question now is just where will he end up with their being a couple of options currently on the table. The front runner would be a return back to the Riazor and rejoining Deportivo but he could also be in line for a move to another Premier League outfit.

That is because Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the 28 year old but like Perez’s former club Deportivo they are struggling to match the valuation of £13.4m that has been set by Arsene Wenger. Should Rafa Benitez get the financial backing he deserves then this could give him the green light to complete this signing.

Gabriel

Arsenal surprisingly have not purchased a big name centre back this summer, even more so when they have switched to a back three. In doing so they find themselves light of personnel in that area and they could be a further man short if this particular player moves on.

Gabriel was signed from Villarreal back in January of 2015 but has failed to really make a first team place his on at Arsenal on a regular basis. In two and a half seasons with the current F.A. Cup and Community Shield winners he has made 46 Premier League appearances out of a possible 97.

Therefore featuring in just under 50% of all of Arsenal’s top flight fixtures, not a great return for the 26 year old and with that in mind he could now be offered a route out of the club as La Liga outfit Valencia are reportedly eyeing up a move for the Brazilian.

Although Wenger is probably one or even two centre backs short of what he needs going into this season, he may well again struggle to guarantee regular first team football to the Brazilian and therefore a move to the Mestalla may be a favourable option for the defender.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Another of the “contract rebels” for use of a better term who are currently on Arsenal’s books this one creates a stick or twist scenario for Arsene Wenger as he will have to decide whether to stick or twist in regards to the future of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Chelsea have been recently linked with the England international while Liverpool have been long time admirers of the midfielder and it is believed that he has a current value of £35m. Which for someone who has less than a year on his contract is still a worthwhile amount.

You could argue that the reason why the valuation is so high for a player in that particular situation is the fact that he has the so called “English Tax” not only that but he would be a perfect addition for any of the top group of Premier League clubs due to his home-grown player status.

This is something that Chelsea are particularly short on and will feel that it could be a price worth paying for the 23 year old, not only that but Arsenal may well feel that unlike with Alexis Sanchez they could cash in and it would be to the detriment to the first eleven. The only apprehension would be selling the player across London, on the other hand he may well end up going there for free in 12 months so why not recoup the funds and reinvest?
