3 players that could complete Liverpool’s transfer business this Summer

Jurgen Klopp has been one of the more active managers during the Summer transfer window as he looks to carry out a large rebuilding job after taking over from Brendan Rodgers last October, that job is nearly complete but there are just a couple of pieces of the jigsaw missing. Here are a trio of names that could very well complete the puzzle.

Martin Odegaard

The 17 year old was bought by Real Madrid back in 2015 under much fanfare. The Norwegian teenager was chased by a whole host of top European clubs but it was Real who ended up winning the race, but was it the right move for Odegaard?

His time in Spain hasn’t been a particularly happy one for the teenager with Odegaard suffering from being homesick which at that age is understandable but after being the big fish in a small pond back in Norway, he is just a small minnow in the world of Galacticos.

Even in his relatively short time at The Bernabeu he has seen 3 different managers in charge and that certainly hasn’t helped his plight as he has been languishing in their B team for the past season. A move to Spain may have been the best one financially but it hasn’t been for his development. A move to Merseyside could very well be the one to rejuvenate what looked like a very promising career.

Jetro Willems

Liverpool are in need of a Left Back that would have been made apparent after Alberto Moreno’s lack of defending in the Europa League in May when the former Sevilla player seemingly did his best to help his former teammates win a 3rd successive trophy.

Moreno looks set to now stay at Anfield but his first team place is very much in doubt and it would be even more so if they were to capture Dutch international Willems. The highly rated 22 year old has already made 20 appearances for his country and has also represented them at Euro 2012 and would likely command a fee of around £13m from PSV Eindhoven. If the signing of Willems could plug the defensive gaps that Moreno has a tendency to leave behind then it could be money well spent.

Jonas Hector

If they fail in the capture of Willems then they could do worse than focusing their attention on the Bundesliga and namely Jonas Hector of Cologne. The 26 year old German represented his country at Euro 2016 and scored the winning penalty to knock Italy out of the Quarter Finals.

It was his performances in the Bundesliga last season which saw him break through to the national squad earlier in the year and after his performances in Euro 2016 he looks like he will be a fixture in the squad for years to come.

Hector only missed 2 apperances in last seasons Bundesliga turning out 32 times for Cologne and was a key feature in their defence as the newly promoted side steered well clear of the drop zone. If he was to leave it would be a huge loss to his former employers but a massive boost to Klopp and Liverpool.
