- A good result for Manchester City but it could have been so much better for Manuel Pellegrini’s side
- They came away with a Draw infront of a rapturous Parisian crowd but will come away thinking what might have been after a pulsating encounter at the Stade De France
- The tempo was frenetic and that was proved after just 15 seconds when David Luiz managed to get himself booked and subsequently miss the 2nd leg next Tuesday
- PSG had the bulk of the early chances and were given a massive advantage when Luiz was felled in the box by Bacary Sagna. Whether it was a Penalty was questionable as Luiz almost fell into the contact
- You could say justice was done after Joe Hart saved Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s spot kick. It wasn’t the greatest spot kick you’ll ever see from the mercurial Swede
- He then had another opportunity to put them ahead but blasted his shot over the bar, it was almost as if the frustration of the Penalty miss was still evident
- Then City hit PSG with a real smash and grab goal. A rapid counter attack saw City break forward en masse, David Luiz was well David Luiz and his failure to cut out the final ball gave Kevin De Bruyne the time and space to fire past Kevin Trapp and give City a crucial away goal
- City look such a better outfit with Kevin De Bruyne in the side, they really have missed him this season
- If that was the good of City then moments later it was the ugly. Joe Hart passed the ball to Fernando who meekly lost possession on the edge of the box and gave Ibrahimovic a near open goal for him to take advantage of
- He did exactly that and within minutes City had thrown away their advantage
- The second half started with the same frenetic energy and PSG managed to get their noses in front
- Joe Hart could only parry an initial header and Adrien Rabiot once of Man City’s academy put PSG in front
- City giving away two pretty cheap goals on either side of the break
- But credit to them the heads didn’t drop and they got their just rewards with just under 20 minutes to go.
- It wasn’t pretty as Serge Aurier failed to clear a ball into the box, it could only fall to Fernandinho who in turn only scuffed the shot. Luckily it deflected off Thiago Silva and span past the helpless Trapp
- 2-2 and City back in the game. Both teams looked for a winner but to no avail
- City will be the happier of the two sides what with the 2 away goals in the bag, a win, 0-0 or 1-1 draw will be enough to see them reach the Semi Finals for the first time
